About Us
Youth Texas Teams is a youth-led nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young people thrive through sports, mental health, education, leadership, and opportunity. Founded by three young leaders who understand firsthand the influence sports can have on a young person’s life, Youth Texas Teams was created to give youth athletes the support, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed both on and off the field.
We believe the whole athlete matters. Success is not only measured by what happens during a game. It is also reflected in how young people manage challenges, care for their mental health, treat others, perform in school, make decisions about their future, and prepare for life beyond sports.
Our work focuses on six key areas: Mental Health, Leadership and Mentorship, Sportsmanship, Literacy, Financial Literacy, and Career Readiness. Through these areas, we help young athletes build resilience, confidence, character, communication skills, financial knowledge, leadership abilities, and the tools needed to pursue meaningful educational and career opportunities.
Mental health is at the heart of our work. We encourage young athletes to talk openly about their emotional well being, recognize when they need support, develop healthy coping skills, and understand that asking for help is a sign of strength. We create opportunities for conversations about the pressures young people experience in sports, school, relationships, and everyday life.
Through leadership and mentorship, we help young athletes discover their voices, develop confidence, take initiative, and learn from positive role models. We believe every young person has the potential to lead, and that meaningful mentorship can help them recognize and reach that potential.
Sportsmanship is an important part of developing character. We teach young athletes the importance of teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, compassion, and how they represent themselves and their teams both on and off the field.
Literacy gives young people the ability to communicate, learn, express themselves, and share their experiences. Through our youth-led magazine, writing opportunities, storytelling initiatives, and educational content, young athletes have a platform to develop their reading and writing skills while using their voices to inspire others.
We also believe young people should have opportunities to understand money and prepare for their futures. Through financial literacy and career readiness, we introduce young athletes to practical skills, career exploration, workforce preparation, financial decision making, and opportunities that can help them build a strong foundation for life beyond athletics.
Youth Texas Teams use storytelling and media to amplify the voices of young people. Through our online magazine and YouTube channel, youth athletes can share their experiences while engaging in conversations with student athletes, coaches, counselors, parents, community leaders, and other professionals. These platforms create space for honest conversations about mental health, sports, education, leadership, motivation, careers, and the lessons young people learn along the way.
We partner with schools, athletic programs, community organizations, businesses, and supporters to bring meaningful resources and opportunities directly to young people.
Through workshops, mentorship, educational programming, youth led initiatives, scholarships, wellness resources, media opportunities, and community outreach, we work to make a lasting difference in the lives of youth athletes and their families.
Youth Texas Teams is committed to developing more than successful athletes. We are developing stronger minds, stronger character, stronger skills, and stronger futures.
We believe that when young people are supported mentally, emotionally, academically, socially, and financially, they are better prepared to lead, compete, serve, and succeed.
At Youth Texas Teams, we are building stronger youth, stronger teams, and brighter futures.
